Forecast: A ridge developing over the area on Wednesday will start off this mini-heatwave for the locations listed above … with Bakersfield being around 102-104F and the low deserts over 105F … Heat like this is normal in the Summer, however this is May and the advisory has been issued for the abnormality.
Bakersfield will cool a bit on Friday below the Heat Advisory limits, however the low desert will remain in advisory level temperatures then … cooling through the weekend with a chance of rain.
Here are some tips:
- Try and limit outdoor activities to the early morning or evening hours and drink plenty of water when working or playing outside.
- Check the backseat. NEVER leave children or pets inside a car for any amount of time.
- If you have not run your home air conditioner yet this year. Test it now before the heat sets in.
- Check on neighbors who may be reluctant to use air conditioning early in the summer season.
