Issued Zones: Los Angeles Basin to LAX/Santa Monica … Northern OC … San Gabriel Valley … Northern IE from Fontana to Yucaipa …
Site: Southern California Weather Force has issued a Flood Advisory effective Sunday …
Date: 2/8/20 at 4:30pm PT
Forecast: A very compact upper level low will come down into the area starting Sunday morning. As the day moves along, the low dropping between Orange County and Catalina will bring a southerly flow and sharp upper divergence (lift) profile into the region.
This will pop-up convective showers and these will produce a moderate flood risk with advisory level flooding expected under the stronger cells. With the stronger cells and some instability, isolated thunderstorm activity will be possible as well.
Advisory level flooding will cease at 8pm in the evening with the low moving south of the area. I am expecting 0.25 to 0.50″ of rainfall in Downtown Los Angeles from this system with most of it falling on Sunday … Use the SCWF Flood Risk Model below to determine your risk in this advisory area …
