Issued Zones:  Eastern San Bernardino/Riverside Deserts … Las Vegas … SCV … Eastern VT Basin … Tehachapi to Gorman … Cajon Pass … Banning … Riverside/San Diego Mountains …

Site:  Southern California Weather Force has issued a Santa Ana Wind Watch effective Tuesday/Wednesday …

Date:  9/5/20 at 9:35am PT

Forecast: A powerful cold-front will hit the Rocky Mountains early this next week and bring a rush of drainage winds out of the north and east starting Tuesday and going into Wednesday for some.  Now, on Tuesday, the strongest area to receive these winds will be along the Colorado River Valley areas northward to Las Vegas.  This is where the strongest of the event will be.  Wind gusts around Needles will easily be over 45-50 mph.
Now on Wednesday, the drainage flow shifts and brings a good 30+ mph wind (minor Santa Ana Wind Conditions) to the Santa Clarita Valley surrounding areas.  This also includes the Cajon Pass, Crestline, Fontana, Banning, and the Riverside/San Diego Mountain communities.
This is not a major event for the metro areas, but will be a damaging wind event in parts of the Needles/Bullhead City/Laughlin/Vegas areas on Tuesday.  This would be the first time I’ve seen a Santa Ana Wind Event that is stronger along the Colorado River Valley areas and not the metro zones.

THIS IS ALSO A FIRE WEATHER WATCH
