A weather system will make a glancing blow to Southern California today and last through Friday. Some areas will see rain, others snow, and others just wind. so read on for details and see the complete model suite in your area …
I have opened the member section for the rain, snow, wind model zoom-in factor to everyone again for this weak event. Things to note on this is a strong onshore flow will contribute to higher rainfall totals near the west and southern mountain slope areas, as you’ll see in the link below to the SCWF Member Section. It also will contribute to higher snowfall totals in those same elevated areas. I mean on Friday morning the Cajon Pass Summit will also see flurries and maybe a dusting off the side of the freeway so there is that as well. Wind gusts will be strong, Level 8 conditions exist along I-8 near Ocotillo as well. The popular winners for rainfall amounts for populated areas would be San Diego County with the west to east flow present.
Long Range indicates that we are not done with systems into Southern California and that we should hang onto a later ending season even through May.
The SCWF model image suite below is so you can see your zone region covered. Keep in mind that these are the most comprehensive images around. They are touchy to the micro-climate and in the rain and flood risk model, you will only see the expected risk or amount. Those models actually cancel out the snow so before you saw flood risks covering the mountains. The new models remove that and make it easier to know what to expect.
The SCWF Member Section maps remain active for free through this system. You can click here to see them. Zoomable maps for rain, snow, and wind are available.
