Issued Zones: High Desert … Morongo Basin … Joshua Tree National Park … Top of the Cajon Pass …
Site: Southern California Weather Force has issued a Freeze Watch effective for the overnights only, starting Thursday and going into the Weekend …
Date Issued: 12/7/21 at 6:50pm local
Forecast: A cold Pacific storm front will move through the region on Thursday. As this exits the region, dry air behind it will filter in. This dry sinking air will cause temperatures to plummet way passed the freezing temperature across the High Desert, Morongo Basin, and Joshua Tree National Park areas overnight Thursday into Friday morning … repeating on Friday into the weekend each night through at least Sunday before the next system hits on Tuesday.
If you are planning on camping out in the freeze watch areas during this time, please advise of the temperatures to come and plan accordingly. If you have plants you wish not to be killed, also plan to move them on Thursday before this hits.
A Freeze Watch is issued when temperatures will be below freezing for more than 3-4 hours, which can cause harm to humans and plants. Watches like this are issued ahead of time so it gives one time to prepare, often 2-3 days before an event is to hit. On Thursday, the final freeze warnings will go out, however this forecast should not change at all and this air-mass will settle for several days each night.
Because this will be a freeze warning, roads that are not traveled often will have BLACK ICE and thus travel must be met with caution or not at all…

10 mile rule: These alerts issued on this site means that within your zone and 10 miles from you will see the event forecast for. You may or may not see the event but it means you are in the zone or 10 miles from where someone will.
Southern California Weather Force is a custom weather alert service that began in September 1999 off and is regarded as the most accurate weather service in the region, offering custom alerts, maps, and models to help save life and property. The work done here is never 100% accurate, but it comes pretty close. Southern California Weather Force runs on zones, so if an event happens in a zone that is 10 miles from the border of your zone, the forecast is still valid to activate your zone’s alert system. A company quote to the public is that of “The Joker” and tells other agencies in weather this all the time… “This world deserves a better class of meteorologist… and I’m gonna give it to them”… out-forecasting even the National Weather Service with lead-time and precision, which makes this service a focus of ridicule and envy in the weather community due to having such accuracy. Alerts issued here are issued custom from this office and this office alone. You may not even hear it elsewhere, but if one is issued near or in your area, listen up because “if you do not wish to die in weather, follow, it’ll save your life one day.”
