A storm system called an inside slider will slide to the northeast of the forecast area, eventually hitting Arizona way harder. At the same time, expecting onshore flow on Thursday night into Friday morning to bring drizzle and light showers to the Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, and Inland Empire forecast areas.
As this storm system starts to affect Arizona on Friday morning, strong northwest winds will bring 30-50+ mph wind gusts to the mountain and desert regions, which is the orange shading you see in this forecast map.
The small yellow zone is where north winds could try to be a short-lived mini-Santa Ana, bringing advisory level winds southward from the Cajon Pass to Corona, traveling along I-15 on Friday evening.
Long Range: Long Range numbers have been indicating a rise in actual storm chances as we move into mid-Fall. The official Southern California Weather Force forecast for Winter will be out with 10 days.
