Southern California Weather Force has issued two alerts from Flood Watch to Winter Storm Watch across the forecast zones acquired from Saturday evening into Monday, January 25th to January 27th, 2025.
As stated over 2-3 weeks ago, January 25th would have a storm pattern given the Santa Ana Winds we are experiencing now. This breakdown of the ridge is about to happen, sending a storm from the arctic down here into Southern California.
Southern California Weather Force rain models indicate we could see 1-2″ of rain for the Santa Barbara, Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Diego, and Inland Empire zones. This will effectively end the fire season, but at a cost with the burn zones receiving a lot of rain in a short period of time. All those zones are now officially under the Southern California Weather Force Flood Watch at this point.
As the system continues to spiral in, cold air, snow levels as low as 3,000 feet will happen. Given the amounts of 1-2″ readings, we could see over one to two feet of snow in the mountain zones like Big Bear and Wrightwood to PMC. Even Tehachapi will get in the mix with 3-6″. Therefore, at this point, the Southern California Mountains from 3,000 FT (All Mountain Passes from Gorman to Cajon) and above are now under the Southern California Weather Force Winter Storm Watch.
Thunderstorms with this will be monitored as it does have thunderstorm potential within the strongest cells, which locally will enhance all I stated.
