Southern California Weather Force has issued the official Thunderstorm Watch, in effect from 2pm to 7pm today, March 7th, 2025.
Zones Affected: The Inland Empire … San Bernardino and Riverside County Mountains … The Cajon Pass …
Discussion: As stated last night, this area would be watched. Onshore flow will work with upper-level winds to create a convergence zone in the Cajon Pass to the San Bernardino Mountains. This will work with the daytime heating to produce the instability needed for thunderstorms to form. These storms will move north to south off the convergence zone and into the Inland Empire. There, several more convergence zones, especially the ECZ, or Elsinore Convergence Zone, will bring more dynamics into the mix.
Thunderstorms will last from 2pm to 7pm along the watch zone.
Thunderstorms will contain hail, brief heavy rain, lightning, gusty winds, and even isolated tornadoes due to the convergence boundaries.
